…, Oh how the mighty have fallen!! Rose is to be immunised. Can’t imagine what good it will do but I’m too tired for (and of) that conversation. Maybe I should sub in someone else for this one??
Rose had another large vomit this morning. Dropped her stats but came back up on her own. Neonatologist very keen on placing the trans-pyloric feeding tube to address suspected acute reflux. They need to do this under radiation (like an xray) with Rose to make sure it’s placed correctly. It comes with a new set of Considerations: Trans-pyloric feeding may induce symptoms of malabsorption because the stomach is not able to aid in digestion e.g. frequent bowel motion, slow weight gain, necrotising enterocolitis. I’ve been dreading the necrotising enterocolitis (common in premmies – how horrible does it sound?!?) and it’s weird that one of the risks is also the reason we are doing the feeding this way, but I guess I just have to go with it for the Greater Good.
She put on 45g over the weekend.
So plan is, place the tube, get bigger, go for LBO and work with what LBO tells them.
Thought this photo illustrates well how Rose feels about her breathing ;-). Picture below that shows how I feel.
Oh and I just rejected the eye test based on her current delicate condition. So it’s useful for something! Deferred until next week. Tho it was Taylor on today not Jacobs – Taylor is the gentler one.
