Caught up with Guy (surgeon) after rounds today. He examined Rose’s neck and said that her sucking and noises are good indicators that we should begin to work towards oral feeding. He asked Tina (nurse) to arrange for a speech pathologist to see her. She still needs to be off CPAP for this but at least we are preparing for normality. Feels good.
I’ve started charting her weight now she’s being weighed regularly. This is a premmie chart so she’s a long way to go but someone said the word “discharge” to me today like that might actually happen to Rose one day – another first.
The first entry on chart is Rose’s weight at birth including teratoma. The second entry is post op but with fluid retention.
