Arrived today to black tape on the floor around Rose’s crib. She has an eye infection. The germ is Pseudomonas. No one was concerned about it at rounds.
We are still on track to extubate tomorrow. Should be in the morning. Joanna Walton (ENT) wants to be there. I find this comforting as if she is reintubed hopefully Joanna will be able to do it, minimising possible damage to her trachea from the procedure. Have a feeling that Joanna’s initial advice is right and it’s an unnecessary exercise at this stage as is she doesn’t believe extubation will be successful but I guess it’s one in the name of hope. Poor Rose!
She’s really alert today so morphine weaning going well tho she’s vomiting and I saw a couple of sneezes both of which indicate withdrawal but she’s been on same dose for 18 hours and she’s scoring zeros or 2s out of 40 so as long as she’s been properly observed all should be going well.
Going for my 6 week check up today. Hoping all ok with me. Doesn’t feel ok – stomach is a mess! How horrible are caesarians?!?? Tell me they get better, someone, please?
Today’s photo from yesterday. Nan visited Rose.
Poor Rose indeed. She looked so good yesterday. Hope this is just a little hiccup and heals quickly.

Hope your check up went well Jane. Caesarians are a bugger but each week it feels better. Hard enough to get over without the added strain you are under. Hope Rose is fighting this infection. Poor little darling. Love to you all Sharon
