John has convinced Joanna (ENT) that extubation is the way to go for Rose so they’re putting her on steroids and removing her ventilation tube in NICU on Tuesday. They’ll use CPAP for ventilation support once tube is removed.
Katie (different Katie but we like this one too) is starting Rose on HMF again today to see if she will tolerate it now or if they need to try something else. It’s vitally important she gains weight still I have quite a few concerns about adding HMF to my milk. Discovered yesterday though that they add quite a lot to it already (morphine, thyroid drug, anti convulsion drug etc). Still think I’ll try for 1 feed out of 12 being just EBM.
Katie asked if Rose likes being wrapped. She hasn’t been yet so we just tried. Photo result attached. Answer: yep! The nappy in this photo is a clean one being used as a bolster for her ventilation tubes, just in case you have the same reaction I did when I saw it š
It’s funny but that really worried me when I first saw her in her crib. I wanted to wrap her up then. Great news about trying the CPAP. Can’t wait to see her tomorrow!

Oh bless, look at your little treasure all wrapped up. I’m loving the updates as I’m thinking of you all the time -thank you. I’m glad that they are confident of trying extubation again on Tuesday. Re: EBM with HMF added – remember that you are the driver. I’ll add to that that you are a very clever Mum with fabulous instincts. I love you dearly and admire you greatly.
